Savory, rich and boasting a beautiful emerald color, we use this powder for lattes (cold and hot) that we prepare for guests at our matcha café and green tea shop. Like all of our matchas, our Deluxe Culinary Grade Matcha Powder is a type of powdered green tea that goes through several steps of processing—shade-growing, hand-picking, devining, destemming, and stone-grinding—that turns camillia sinensis leaves into matcha tea powder. What makes this matcha ‘Deluxe’ is that it is made from the leaves of the year’s first harvest.

Our Deluxe Culinary Grade Matcha Powder boasts a more aggressive flavor when drunk on its own—which is exactly what makes it outstanding for lattes as it can really cut through sweeteners and milks with full force—and while we have several other matcha offerings for those who plan to make most of their matcha traditionally, our guests have found more versatility with this tea than with our regular Culinary Grade Matcha on account of it being a first-harvest (and thus, more vibrant) tea. When it comes to matcha, some of our guests like a bit more astringency than others. Even though it is Deluxe Culinary Grade, this tea is still more on the astringent side than many of our other matchas but it is smoother on the whole than our regular Culinary Grade matcha.
